A leading organization in the financial services industry is seeking a Head of Applications to take ownership of its diverse application portfolio, lead modernization initiatives, and drive strategic integration efforts. Essential Experience
- Proven success in a senior role, such as Head of Applications, within a regulated industry.
- Expertise in cloud technologies, modern architecture, integration strategies, and API-first development.
- Experience with custom and SaaS-based systems, particularly in evaluating and modernizing legacy platforms.
- Strong track record of balancing strategic oversight with hands-on problem-solving when necessary.
Reporting to the CIO, the Head of Applications will lead a team responsible for evaluating, integrating, and optimizing the organization’s application portfolio. This role combines strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership to ensure the application landscape aligns with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Strategy:
- Evaluate, consolidate, and modernize an 80+ application portfolio for scalability and efficiency.
- Balance proprietary development with vendor-based solutions to align with strategic goals.
- Modernization & Integration:
- Implement integration strategies leveraging APIs and microservices.
- Oversee both in-house development and third-party vendor systems.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and stabilize a team of 3–5 direct reports, including a Solution Architect and Enterprise Solutions Manager, with support from external development teams.
- Foster alignment with agile best practices and ensure delivery excellence.
- Governance & Compliance:
- Improve cybersecurity, risk management, and governance practices.
- Address gaps in ISO certification readiness and drive application maturity.
- Calm, approachable, and collaborative leadership style.
- Exceptional communication skills to align diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to navigate organizational change and secure buy-in for new strategies.
