Reporting directly to the CFO, the Head of Technology is a leadership role that demands both technical expertise and strong coaching and collaboration skills. In this role, you will support the business by successfully delivering IT projects and driving innovation, while effectively managing the IT Department.
What You Will Do:
- Lead and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will manage staffing levels and skills to ensure the team remains current with evolving technology and business needs.
- Contribute to the organisation’s overall leadership as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the availability, reliability, and security of all systems and networks.
- Develop and implement robust cybersecurity policies and procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing IT security incidents, and maintaining vendor relationships to secure cost-effective solutions and adherence to service-level agreements.
- Formulate and execute the IT strategy in alignment with the company’s business goals.
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities where technology can drive business improvements and efficiencies, and lead technology-focused projects.
- Manage relationships with external service and product vendors, overseeing procurement processes.
- Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Executive Team on emerging technologies and their potential to drive business innovation.
- Actively participate as a member of the company’s IT Governance Committee on the Board.
More About You
In addition to the expected expertise across various IT applications, infrastructure, and network environments, you will bring:
- Proven experience in leadership, coaching, and management.
- Extensive project management experience, with a strong track record of successfully delivering both small and complex IT projects.
- Hands-on experience in navigating and delivering projects within complex environments.
- Expertise in identifying and managing project issues, risks, and dependencies.
- Proficiency in project administration, including managing contract variations, dashboard reporting, financial tracking, and forecasting.
- Experience working within various delivery methodologies.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders to understand and meet functional requirements.
- Familiarity with formal software development practices and testing methodologies.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an IT Manager or Head of Technology within a medium to large organisation, with a strong record of successful project delivery and relevant qualifications.
- Training in Project Management (a formal project management qualification is highly regarded).
- Demonstrated excellence in leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven experience in Supply Chain technology.
- Extensive experience with ERP systems, preferably within a well-established environment such as JD Edwards (JDE).
- Expertise in developing and maintaining a robust cyber-security framework and capability.
- Experience in creating and implementing business strategies.
- A solid understanding of AI’s potential, with hands-on experience in prototyping and developing AI-based solutions, is highly valued.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and network management.
- Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and assist functional leaders in translating business requirements into technical specifications.
- Proven ability to work in a professional and collaborative team environment to deliver innovative solutions that drive business transformation.
